I forgot to mention it in my earlier post - Merl Saunders recently became a great-grandfather. Baby's name is Braden and everyone is doing well. Woo hoo! Welcome to the world!
It floors me that he's a great-grat at 73. Jacqueline says her only regret about a nice mellow afternoon was that no one was holding a camera the moment Merle was leaving, and he stopped and balanced on his cane, and leant forward to touch noses with Matilda. That was so lovely.
I know! I went extremely melty: generations, with Matilda so pink and new and bold and inqisitive, and Merle so tender and wise. Lump in the throat stuff.

That was precious, I was standing right behind him and it was a Kodak moment as they say. I hope Merl stays around for a long, long time.
