The Viscompte and a Countess...
It still bothers me that the aged Raoul in Phantom of the Opera is referred to in the auction scenes as "The Viscompte de Chagny" and yet, at the end of the film, the same aged count goes to put the music box on Christine's grave and the gravestone reads "Christine, Countess de Chagny." As I have said before, she married the title so shouldn't she be the Viscomptess de Chagny?
According to the guest list for the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, the wives of British Viscounts are referred to as Viscountesses: "Viscount Linley, son of the late Princess Margaret, and Viscountess Linley."
I cannot let it go. I'm sorry.
